Work Site

Help Juneau become a better community by mentoring a youth by becoming a JobX work site!

JobX places youth 16-24 years old in subsidized positions in work sites throughout Juneau. JobX pays the salary and the work site staff puts participants to work for up to 150 hours. After that time, work sites do not have to hire the JobX participant - just simply fill out a one-page evaluation form.

Work experiences are a known example of best practices that allow youth to:
• increase their awareness and information of pathways to careers in Alaska’s high growth jobs
• expose youth to the realities of the world of work
• connect to caring adults and mentors
• develop leadership and independent living skills.

JobX is part of the State of Alaska Youth First Initiative which is designed to prepare youth to be job ready by making sure our youth know what it means to be a good employee, and have the skills needed to get – and keep – a job.

Along with paid work experience, JobX offers youth career counseling and labor market information via Alaska Career Information System (AKCIS) and trains participants on how to:
• create a resume
• complete a job application
• learn how to use the Alaska Labor Exchange System (ALEXsys) to  do a job search

Create a better future for Juneau - become a JobX work site and mentor a youth on how to become a GREAT employee!
